This monument was inaugurated on 4th September 1949, in the presence of military, civil and religious authorities, as well as the father and sister of Emile Cady. The monument recalls the retreat of Belgian troops on the 10th May 1940. It is worth noting that the head present on the monument was sculpted by a local artist from Bastogne, Maurice Nizet (1929-1993). (Text source by MT du Pays de Bastogne)
